COMPANIES ACT 2007
As of 1st January 2007, the Companies Act in the UK now requires that all emails contain the registered office and company registration number if you are a limited company or a plc. We only picked this up by chance and our footers now hold this information. But how many emails have you seen today where this information is missing? At a quick count, of the marketing emails I receive, fewer than 5% comply with the new law. Problem is that ignorance isn't an excuse and the change is relatively small. Frankly the chances of being caught, dragged through the courts and fined are minimal and one might suggest that the DTI had more important calls on its resources - your call, but at least we've let you know.
